Bankruptcy

Taking Control of Your Future.

Struggling with mounting debt, endless collection calls, or the fear of losing your home? You’re not alone, and more importantly, you have options. At Kuhlman Law Office PLLC, we believe that bankruptcy isn’t about failure—it’s about taking control and creating a path toward financial stability.

For many people, bankruptcy provides a legal reset, allowing them to erase or restructure debt, stop aggressive creditors, and rebuild a stronger financial future. Whether you need the debt relief of Chapter 7 or the structured repayment plan of Chapter 13, we’re here to guide you through every step of the process with clarity, confidence, and compassion.

What to Expect When You File for Bankruptcy

If you've never filed for bankruptcy before, you may feel unsure about what to expect. While each case is unique, here’s a general overview of the bankruptcy process:

Initial Consultation
  • We start with a 15-minute phone or virtual consultation to discuss your financial situation and determine if bankruptcy is right for you.
Client Questionnaire
  • If you choose to move forward, you'll complete a comprehensive Client Questionnaire to help us better understand your financial needs.
Document Preparation
  • Using the information you provide, we draft your bankruptcy petition and required legal documents.
Review & Filing
  • We work with you to finalize your petition, ensuring accuracy before submitting your case to the court.
Automatic Stay Begins
  •  Once filed, an automatic stay goes into effect, legally stopping creditor harassment, wage garnishment, and collection efforts.
Meeting of Creditors
  • You will attend a brief telephonic hearing with a bankruptcy trustee to review your case (we will guide you through this process).
Case Management & Follow-Up
  • We handle all correspondence with creditors and ensure all legal requirements are met.
